“There are two ways of seeing: with the body and with the soul. The body’s sight can sometimes forget, but the soul remembers forever.”
― Alexandre Dumas, The Count of Monte Cristo
I captured this image on the shores of Marseilles, with the Chateau d’if in sight. I am absolutely taken by the insight and creativity of the authors and artists that lived and wrote and painted in the places I am traveling. Their insight and artistry is astounding and often extremely prolific.
That fascination makes me crave more understanding about their lives, their public and private lives, their daily habits and patterns, their choices and quirks. I imagine that sense will stay with me long after I leave these places and begin my quest to find out more about who they were and how they came to be.
