In 2016, we had the opportunity to visit Norway. It was part of a longer European trip where we went to Paris, Florence, Pisa and the Romantic Road of Germany as well. It was that trip that largely contributed to our love of travel.
While in Norway, we stayed in the quaint seaside town of Trondheim. Trondheim was Norway’s first capital and is rich with culture. One of the bright spots of the city is the open-air museum of Sverresborg. It’s a recreation of what Trondheim was like in its early days, and it sits near the top of one of the hilly neighborhoods overlooking the city.
One of the docents that works there (the one interviewed for this video) told me that they literally dismantled, brought up, and rebuilt actual homes and shops from Trondheim proper.
Spend your time strolling through the “town,” or go into the traditional museum and see the history of Trondheim. I made this little promo for them after grabbing a quick interview with the docent. It’s a great introduction to the town and the museum.
